		Count Hans Axel von Fersen (1755-1810) was a Swedish officer and diplomat who was a close friend of Marie Antoinette and the King. Eventually von Fersen would try to save them both from the guillotine. Von Fersen was one of the genuine friends of the royal family. He and the Queen were drawn to each other on first meeting. He was concerned never to take advantage of her or the regard of King Louis. Few displayed such constancy in the crisis. - More
