A lover's betrayal vanquished this powerful queen.

In the Nibelungenlied, Brunhild is the Queen of Iceland and mighty warriorwoman. No man can match her strength. Gunther and his brothers desire her kinship through marriage to him. HIs suit is frustrated by his weakness. The Gibech persude Siefgried, who is now in love with Kriemheld, to pose as Gunther and seduce Brunhild. Siegfried conquers Brunhild in wrestling and takes her by force, as she has not seen him as her first love. Disaster follows.
